The Guy from PHM also advised me for the flight and I booked it directly with the airline which was cheaper. For the high season I already booked my trip to the Maldives - this time I go to Angsana Ihuru which has probably the best house reef. I can’t wait…

If you long to see some hectic lifestyle in the Maldives, a one or two day stay in Male will do it. The city has developed to host a number of hotels and guest houses. You have a choice ranging from hotels with superior services to basic guest houses.

Best Maldives Travel Agent
> Posted by admin in Best Maldives Travel Agent
Are you planning to spend your next holidays in the Maldives and are you wondering how to get the best deal for a nice Maldives island resort? First you must know that there are over hundreds different Maldives island resorts all over the country. Don’t just search the internet for the cheapest deal but ask yourself what kind of resort you are looking for. Are you interested in a small and idyllic Island with only a few guests or do you prefer a large island resort with lots of activities and facilities such as Spa, diving center, restaurant a la carte, bars and discos – or maybe you prefer something in between. If you don’t know which island resort is offering which service and facilities then simply let your Maldives Agent know your preferences. Once you have found your ideal island resort you can decide the accommodation category. In the Maldives you find beach or water bungalows in all types and categories from standard rooms to luxury suites. If you travel as a honeymoon couple, a water bungalow may be romantic while a beach bungalow is recommended when traveling with children since children like to play at the beach. It is also a question of safety – some resorts do not accept children under 12 years in water bungalow since they could fall down from the jetty. However, my wife and I prefer beach bungalows even though we have no children. We just like the beach feeling and when the sea is rough it can get pretty noisy in the water bungalows since they are built into the lagoon standing over water on wooden or concrete pickets.
When booking a Maldives resort I recommend local Travel Agents since they are based in the Maldives with good relationship to the resorts and suppliers. If you need any help during your vacation they are always there for you. I also like the thought of supporting local business and not bring my money to a big tour operator where I am considered as a number. Imagine shopping at Wal-Mart or Tesco where you are one out of thousands. Don’t you prefer to do your shopping in your favorite local grocery store around the corner where you can find the specific items you want and where your individual wishes are taken seriously? And don’t make the mistake to think that this nice little local Travel Agent is more expensive. That’s not the case – local Agents have competitive contract rates with the resort and they check out regularly the latest offers that can be passed on to guests. We usually book with Premium Holidays Maldives since they are fast, reliable and got the best deals. However, as already mentioned there are many Agents in the Maldives which can be found in the internet. You might ask why not book directly with the resort and skip the travel agent. Good point, but keep this in mind. The resorts have contracts with Travel Agencies and off course the rates are lower then what the resort is offering to you. In addition to that, Maldives resorts give special offers to travel agents while charging you rack rates. Also remember, a local Travel Agent normally greed you upon arrival, gives you a welcome letter with a number of contact, and attends you when you leave the islands. So, if you have a problem during your holidays, the local Travel Agent is one local call away, acting efficiently since they know how the system works and they speak the local language. Ok, honestly said, I don’t know if all Maldives Travel Agencies are providing all this services but this has been my experience with my Maldivian Travel Agent.
You can compare and buy Maldives flights directly at expdia.com or kayak.com. Just keep this in mind. The transfer from the airport to the resort is done by speedboat or seaplane. Seaplane transfers are operating daily until 4pm while speedboat transfers are organized by the resort itself. Speedboats tend to operate until night depending on the resort and the distance from and to the airport. Therefore, if you, for instance, have booked a flight that arrives at 8pm, staying in a resort which can be reached only by seaplane, then you must stay for one night in the Airport Hotel called “Hulhule Hotel” or in a City Hotel in Male. Therefore, advice your Travel Agent soonest possible about your arrival details, so he can inform you about the procedure upon arrival.
Enjoy your holiday – you probably deserve it.
PS: Without going into details I would like to mention my four favorite Maldives resorts.
Thulhagiri Island Resort 4*
Angsana 4.5*
Angsana Velavaru 5*
W Retreat and Spa 5.5* (this is probably the best resort in the Maldives)
PPS: As you probably know the Maldives are a bit more costly then conventional holiday destinations. But after spending your in the Maldives you will know why you paid a couple bucks more and you probably go back again next year.
Calling All Smokers. A Dream Ticket for Two to Paradise Island
> Posted by admin in holidays the maldives
By: Michael Challiner
Sorry to remind all you died in the wool smokers but November was Lung Cancer Awareness month. But no don’t click away - spare a few moments of your time, please…
If hard words on packets wash over you, let me put the financial case to you for quitting. As well as feeling healthier I can offer you a holiday for two on Paradise Island in the Maldives, for two, for every year of your longer life!
OK, I know you don’t believe me. Let’s explain.
Say the average smoker is 40 and smokes 20 a day. With cigarettes at £5 a packet that’s £1,800 a year. Then you’ll save loads on the cost of your your life, critical illness and medical insurance. Just how much was highlighted in a recent snapshot study by www.express-life-insurance.co.uk. This found that the average smoker paid 56% more for life insurance than a non-smoker. Therefore, giving up could easily save you £50 per month on your various insurance premiums.
So as a non-smoker you could be £2,400 per year better off. Wearing a financial hat I can show you that if a 40 year old man put those savings into a personal pension plan with NFU, then at 5% per annum growth, he’ll have a healthy retirement fund of £97,860. On retirement that could give an in the pocket tax-free sum of £24,465, plus an annual lifetime income of £3,830 (or £5,100 per year if the tax-free cash was left in the pension).
On the other hand let’s have more fun!
For £2,400 you can have a 5 star 10 day holiday for two on Paradise Island in the Maldives. Give up smoking forever and you could afford to go back to Paradise Island every year!
QED - makes you think doesn’t it?

Turquoise lagoons, underwater coral gardens, swaying palm fronds and glorious white sand beaches are the big draws of this paradise perched on the Equator, 435 miles southwest of Sri Lanka. Maldivians are warm, friendly and hospitable. The population is predominantly Muslim; on the capital of Male and other inhabited islands, modest clothing is recommended for women.
